Earth 2

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2015-09-12 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Earth 2 is probably the most obscure canon I'm really into that I think only a few people here have seen. It doesn't have a fandom, though it does have some fic. All my efforts to get people into it have been in vain. :(

I vaguely remember seeing this around. What's the draw of it for you? Shippable characters? Worldbuilding?

(It's a short TV series, right?)

It's got an interesting sci-fi concept and world-building, good actors (Clancy Brown! Tim Curry! That dude who played Locke in Lost!), and good characters. It's pretty shippy if you like het pairings. (Not much slash potential, though you can femslash a few characters pretty easily.) It's also got that cheesy, 90's sci-fi luster that I personally like. It only has one season of like 22 eps and not a great ending, but for what it is, it's pretty fun. It's really low-investment and I got a lot of enjoyment out of watching it. One of my my favorite characters and couples comes from this show.

How did it end?

Unresolved cliffhanger. Main character stricken with possibly fatal disease, put in cryogenic freeze, and fade to black. Cue network cancellation. :(

I saw it a few years ago, when I randomly picked up the DVD set from the library. Even made a secret about it.

I could really have gotten into that show, there was so much potential.
