When I was around Lisa's age in the early-mid 90s heyday of The Simpsons she was my favourite character because I related to the fact she was "bright" and often felt picked on/isolated by her peers as a result.

Then I got older and noticed it wasn't always her intelligence that rubbed people the wrong way. She is overly opinionated and abrasive sometimes. That's not necessarily always a bad thing but people in general don't react well to it.

I'm sightly too old to have got the same "wow she's me" feeling from Hermione but I sill do feel for her at times. Other times I don't agree with her actions.

Anyway, they're not bad characters to emulate but sometime when we see ourselves in characters I think we can end up downplaying or ignoring their flaws. Just don't lose sight of your own identity I guess?
