The word "lesbian" has been in use since the late 1500s. Use of the word "gay" to mean "homosexual" has only been around since the mid-20th century.

"Gay" is actually the special snowflake word. "Lesbian" has a history and a basis in the classics.

And the population of an island who get annoyed at homosexual women stealing it.

Not that I care what Greek islanders think about homosexual women. I just find it funny that lesbians are annoyed at lesbians for stealing their name.

There was NO concept of exclusive female homosexuality at that time, so no. You're incorrect. "Lesbian" being derived from "the classics" (sort of) hardly matters, words just describe things, and both male homosexual acts and female homosexual acts have been known about for quite a long time. and what the hell, anyway, is your point?
