Yep, you could say that about just about any minority, but I think it speaks more to the privileged parts of their identity than anything, though location can help.

Maybe. None of the others can claim hugely influential areas like hollywood as one of those parts where they are overwhelmingly accepted though. And we are only comparing groups of LGBT people, not all minorities.

You dont see many on screen because het sells. But behind the scenes as actors directors musicians photographers artists writers costume designers... yea. They are. Overwhelmingly, pretty on par with straight, gayness being a non issue, as compared to a trans woman frex.

Interesting, I head that it was common, but complicated and fraught nonetheless - in a homophobic society not a vacuum - definitely not a "non issue". For example, casting directors, often gay themselves, actively passing over actors who've had even the whisper of a gay rumour about them. It sounds like there's a quite a bit of self-loathing bullshit and identity politics about tbh. Not an environment I'd choose to be in, even if I'm stuck here in suburban straightsville.

I would say that the gay rumor thing is due to how the audience would react, not the director's whim. Or the part is for a straight character as most are. Idk if its self loathing or the idealization of the straight man that runs in a lot of gay communities- lol "str8-acting"- but I would put my money on the latter there too.

Anyway my original point was that yea in some specific places like that hypothetical casting director or some hypothetical fashion designer gay men are practically equal, and they may have more -of- those places than the LBT groups, but those areas aren't everywhere nor do they include all gay men, so it makes no sense to exclude the majority because a small number are in better situations
