Because I hate it. People who have found other fannish spaces that suit them better dropping in to shit on lj. If you're so happy over there, why the need to do that? Just stay super happy over there.

Someone can prefer tumblr but still want to come to a place like this, especially if they can't find something similar on tumblr. And there ain't no FS on tumblr.

And they're not shitting on lj or dw. They're saying the tumblr style of fandom suits them better. FFS, do you get this upset whenever someone says they prefer something else over a thing you like?

People shit on tumblr here all the time. I was glad to see someone who found some value in it. I definitely like it (it's far easier for me to engage with a lot of people and find new content and people to follow), though I miss the organization of a nice LJ comm.

tumblr is a mixed bag. On the one hand you have an easy way to share fanish stuff, art, caps, etc. Then you have the sjw fringe who are offended by their own shadows (And people cosplaying as shadows) that makes the place unbearable.

Same anon, I don't mind the occasional indepth discussion on the colour of a Corvo's pubes or whatever but mostly I'm here just to look at pictures, read fanfic and make pointless comments.

Only instead of scrolling from random website to random website, it is usefully compiled on one website.

And I can still discuss Corvo's pubes if I really want to.

You keep on fandoming how you enjoy.

Though it is hard to find discussion on tumblr (unless you really go looking for it, and mostly I'm too lazy), it has its uses.

So I won't begrudge you the fandom space you've found, though I won't lie and say I don't miss communities.

I like fandom memes. I like tumblr in theory. But tumblr in reality is a horrible place and the way it's set up just makes it so easy for fandom drama to start. People tag their hate or spam the tags of stuff they hate. Even if they don't tag it you might find stuff with the way the search function works. People send anon hate.

I remember before tumblr it was easier for people to just stay in their lanes, but now everyone has to share the same space. I wish tumblr had forums viewable to only approved members or some other way to just see the stuff you want to see instead of mingling with the rest of fandom.

Also, I would at least like a better function for those that do want to have actual discussions with more than one person. As it is now it would be really sloppy to read, but there are lots of people in fandom that have interesting opinions and I wish I could discuss stuff with them better.

I'm totally okay with you liking what you like - but I don't like the implication that "having fun" is mutually exclusive with journal-based fandom. Some people really enjoyed that and some people really miss it.

The thing I found in fandom that differed from my friends IRL was that particularly obsessive devotion that went into analysing and speculating about every tiny bit of canon or writing long-winded essays explaining why two characters who interacted all of twice on page would be the best couple ever. (and then having week-long flamewars about it, ahahaha)

tl;dr tumblr sucks for talking and what else is new
