Technically speaking, it still wouldn't be a choice if something "turned you" gay; it would be a choice if something inspired you to "turn yourself" gay. Other interpretations would be that it inspired you to re-examine your sexuality and conclude you are gay, or that it inspired you to explore other aspects of your sexuality when you had not previously realized you were bisexual. Your sexuality; not my place to describe it.

I'm rather baffled that the writing quoted here could do any of the above, and I'm curious if you know why, but you're the one in a position to know.
