At odds with the crowd

[personal profile] leisuretime 2015-09-13 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
While I found it flawed in several ways, ultimately I liked season 3 of Heroes, which is not how I expected to walk away given my own very brief first impression and what fandom had to say about it.

What are some other things where you find yourself at odds with the crowd (in either direction, about anything)?

I like all of Buffy including seasons 1, 6, and 7, even though I think 2 and 3 are the strongest seasons.

I prefer Moffat to RTD.

I don't like Game of Thrones past season 3. Parts of 4 are okay. 5 was horrible. Although 5's lower quality does seem to be a general consensus. Actually, I'm going to say that seasons 1 and 3 are the only ones I really like even though 1 and 3 are really, really good.

I shipped Adam Monroe with Claire, so my fellow Adam Monroe fans thought I was very weird.

Really? I'd much rather that than Claire/Peter. But then, the Petrellicest is strong with that fandom, so I'm not surprised outliers are derided.

I'm rewatching season 1 of Heroes right now and I'm deeming it the gateway to incest shipping. Especially since people were shipping Claire/Peter AND THEN we found out they were related.

I actually didn't mind season 2 of "Sleepy Hollow", for the most part. It wasn't perfect, no, but I still think there were some good episodes and moments throughout.

Course, I also didn't mind Katrina Crane, and that definitely puts me in quite a small group in the fandom.

Same with JJ on "Criminal Minds". A lot of the fans I've run across don't care for her in the more recent seasons especially, but I've no issue with her at all. I actually like all the characters on that show, past and present. It seems many of the fans I know have their particular favorites and don't care for other ones.

And while most of my personal favorite seasons of that show tend to be earlier ones, I still find plenty to like about the latter seasons, too.

The only CM character I have even mild negative feelings for is Reid (which in itself is at odds with the crowd since he seems to be the favorite). I don't hate or even dislike him, I just find him the least interesting. But JJ is awesome. I will admit that Emily and Hotch slightly edge out the others, but I do like them all.

Oh, I'm also at odds in liking all the former characters and additions including Seaver. I liked Seaver.

Ah, see, and I adore him :D. But I won't argue his popularity can...drown out, for lack of a better term, perhaps...attention to other characters sometimes. The other characters are pretty awesome, too, after all, and should get their fair share of attention and love, too.

Emily is such a fascinating character. If I were to make a list of female characters I'd want to emulate in my own life more, she'd be on there. And Hotch-everyone should be so lucky to have a boss like him. He's a good man.

I liked Seaver, too! I thought she was sweet, and I kinda liked the whole thing of her being the "scrappy newcomer" against the more established team members. Plus, the bonds she formed with Rossi and Emily in particular were nice.

A lot of people hated it, but I felt like, at least up until the end, it was feeling like season 1, which I enjoyed. 2 was weak, but not all bad. Season 3 was meh, for the most part. I only watched it cause Hiro was one of my faves.
