Re: Dumb stuff you're judgy over

AYRT
It was as the other anon said. Invariably when someone brings up eating badly because they are poor, someone jumps in with "you could eat beans!" Which I can, but that is not a viable option for every meal, as it takes a long time to prepare and it gets boring.

I don't necessarily eat a lot of prepared foods. But pasta, for example, is $.50-$1 a box which I can put $.50 of various sauces or some butter and spices on it for a really cheap meal ($1 or so) that varies depending on the sauce. And which is filling. Or I can spend $3 per pound for fruits and vegetables, which go bad more easily and which aren't as filling.

I like to cook, but I spent three years with one day off every six weeks or so. And my jobs weren't office jobs, but rather physically demanding/stressful jobs. And before I got the second and third jobs, I couldn't afford a car, so I was walking the three miles to and from work which also is demanding. (Plus makes it difficult to grocery shop.) I just don't have the time or energy at the moment (or the resources sometimes) to cook complex things and I also just don't have the money to buy healthy things when the unhealthy ones are cheaper and more filling.
