I agree with this. I loath Bond, but I've loved a lot of the themes. My vote would have been for Lana or Ellie.

I've never heard a single song from him. (I'm old?) But apparently last time a lot of people thought Adele was an odd choice for a Bond theme and that worked out pretty well.

I'm going to wait until I hear it, especially in combination with the opening titles.

Can't wait for Spectre btw!

Ellie Goulding doing the Bond theme is something I didn't know I wanted, and now I can't unwant it. Damn it.

their voices are pretty, but they're not strong enough to be a good fit with an orchestral theme imo
all the bond theme singers have been "strong" in the past, minus madonna

I'm not a fan of sam smith, but at least his voice can carry more than a few notes

Lana is awful and awkward and in no way good enough for a bond theme. Ellie and her tiny baby whisper voice can fuck right off. Shirley Bassey had a bond theme and was amazing. There are few modern voices who can hold their own on a bond number because the stupid pop scene loves those whispery baby voices. I'd love to see Josh Homme try one. He'd be amazing.

Ugh yeah I heard Lana perform live. It was a train wreck and frankly, it was embarrassing to listen to it. Just imagine her trying to perform it at, say, the Oscars with full orchestra...

I usually prefer male voices, but I think Bond songs should be sung by women. I'll make an exception for the glory that is THUNDERBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL, but other than that, just get women to sing Bond songs. :/
