Yeah, the lack of players is sad. I'm lucky in that I got to go through it when it still had players, though I haven't touched it in a couple years.

It's still the closest thing we'll get to a new Team ICO game though, at least for now.

I ship them hard too, OP (and very sad that the fandom is tiny and fanwork is pretty much non existence), but I think it's less sexuallity and more him writing out his idealized childhood. Shounen are usually like that.
