The thing is, the actual tournament will probably go off largely without a hitch. Major sporting events, even ones plagued by massive difficulties, generally do.

The Olympics in Athens and Beijing, and the World Cups in South Africa and Brazil all had their issues, from riots to human rights concerns to poverty and financial collapse. But every one of those tournaments went off fairly smoothly once the actual competition came around. Qatar will be the same.

It's a travesty that they got awarded the event. There will be massive human rights violations in the leadup. But waiting for the event to collapse in on itself is fruitless, because it won't.

+1, they'll just bring in massive military force, make everything look clean for the cameras and no-one will give a shit. Unless an expensive footballer drops dead in the heat, that would work.

Didn't they already move it to winter?

Which, lol in itself, but.

That's actually the only thing that might still stop it from happening because most European countries are not happy to move their league matches.
