What are some of your favorite non-traditional holiday movies? For instance, a lot of people love Die Hard as a Christmas movie.

I watched Batman Returns last December without realizing that it all took place around Christmas, and I will now watch it every year.

Some people watch The Great Escape as a Christmas movie. Which I find a bit puzzling-- there's a Christmas scene, but also July 4 and some other things that are mostly there to show the passage of time. I guess it's the spirit of the movie? It's a damn good movie and worth watching any time of year.

I remember my family watching The Music Man on Christmas in the late evening more than one year, so I always think of it as a Christmas movie.

Not quite the same question, but are there are actually any Thanksgiving movies

The only ones I can think of are Home for the Holidays and a Charlie Brown special.

Dan in Real Life might take place during Thanksgiving?

SA, should clarify, I don't want any bullshit about the Pilgrims, that doesn't have shit to do with Thanksgiving anyway

The one I mentioned, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, takes place specifically at Thanksgiving. The whole plot is Steve Martin trying to get home in time for the big dinner.

I can't think of any other movies that haven't been mentioned already. The only other thing are specials, Hey Arnold's being a nice one.

I always watch The Iron Giant on/around Thanksgiving. Cartoon Network used to do a 24-hour marathon of it back in the day, so I always associate it with Thanksgiving.

Doesn't Homeward Bound end with a Thanksgiving scene?

"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" is a Christmas movie for me (actually, it's my favorite movie year-round, but it's set during Christmas, so I get away with making people watch it with me most often in December).

Tokyo Godfathers. I love it to bits and it's set around the holidays, so that's reason enough for me!
