Canons you looked for fanfic of and found none, pairings you've found especially shippy that no one else seems to ship, crossovers that seem obvious, fic ideas that you're sure someone must have done already...

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA AND X-FILES CROSSOVER

They already had James Hong goddammit

Isn't that basically what the episode with James Hong was, though?

NOT EVEN

Despite being set in Chinatown, it completely lacked any hint of insane Chinese sorcery and didn't manage to have Jack Burton, Gracie Law, Wang Chi, Lo Pan, OR Egg Shen, and instead had BD Wong and some dumb garbage plot about organ smuggling

A complete and basic failure on the part of the showrunners tbh, not even managing to make my insane fandom crossover a reality

Melkor/Hurin. Or Hurin fics at all. I have not found a single Hurin fic. How can this be? There are a lot for Maedhros and Tyelpe and a few for Finrod. His life sucked just as much and has just as much angst potential. So why no fics?

People are too distracted by his asshole son?

Probably. I could care less about Turin personally, I think Hurin is infinitely more interesting. And I like angst. And watching your family destroy itself and not being able to do anything to help them has got to be really, really angsty.

Smaller fandom aside, I'm surprised there isn't more of a Rex/Ben following after the Generator Rex/Ben 10 crossover. Or any following at all for Knight/Six after how much of a jealous crush Knight was in Promises, Promises.

All the Helix darkfic. Everyone would rather write AUs where everyone is happy, the world isn't ending (kinda understandable, I guess...), and all the dead characters are alive. And okay, sure. But where is all the fic expanding upon fucked up things that happen in the canon? We've got brainwashing, kidnapping, hallucinations, incest, cannibalism, and in general SO MUCH DUBCON. There's so much you can do with this stuff.

Two pairings are dominant; one more-or-less canon het ship between 2 supporting characters, and then non-canonically the 2 female leads. And while I like femslash a lot, I'm not so into this ship. It's okay, but there's more options that and I'm looking for the more messed up relationships. And this show is known for sexually dominant women, that doesn't come up a lot except in that popular het ship. Why not Sutton/Hatake, or others?

Key/Peele! I don't really ship them but I was surprised there's such little slash.

By "such little slash" I mean exactly ONE fic on AO3.

The fact that you found one surprises me. Comedy shows don't usually have that much fic.

I don't know, there's a decent RPF fandom around Colbert/Stewart/Oliver and stuff. A small one for Mitchell & Webb, too. Granted, Key & Peele is a much smaller show but it's not unheard of!

(I mean I was expecting like 10-15, not 50. But just one surprised me!)

I have found NOTHING crossing over Homestuck and Dragon Age. Considering that they're both large fandoms, and the Homestuck fandom in particular is wild for crossovers, AND they both feature races of grey, horned humanoids; I would have thought it was obvious!

i thought there would be way more gunnerkrigg court fic floating around, what with all the shippers in message boards

I thought there would be more for JD/Turk from Scrubs. Watching the show I was sure there'd be a TON of fic and stuff, so I was really suprised to find that there was waaaaay more JD/Cox, which seemed nowhere near as obviously slashy to me.

I still believe, and will probably always continue to believe, that this is because Turk is black.

That's the reason I believe there's less Shawn/Gus than Shawn/Lassie in the "Psych" fandom (at least when I was there). :P

I don't ship Regina Mills/Emma Swan. I ship Abbie Mills/Emma Swan. Where's the fic? The art? Am I the only one who ever thought of this crossover? I mean, I ship Swanfire, and got dead Baelfire and Captain Swan. I ship Ichabod/Katrina, and Katrina makes with Abraham and then dies. I have to have fun with my crappy fantasy shows somehow.
