The attorney I interned with told me horror stories of representing clients who were in border detention centers and being restricted from accessing them (which is so completely illegal, but they get away with it anyway).

Basically, supposedly the Supreme Court has said that constitutional rights apply to immigrants, but that does not seem to be the case in practice.
