You know, at first I didn't like those kinds of fans either, I thought they are too invested in fictional characters, and can be pretty hilarious. After a while though you start to understand how they feel after hearing "there can't be gays in this thing" over and over. Yes there are those who don't give a damn about representation and just want to lord about their OTP being canon, but I would guess they are just the vocal minority.
