Personally? I am so used to shipping non-canon that I just don't care.

Given that I tend to be laid back to the point of apathy, I don't usually care about getting into ship wars. I simply keep going my way, hunting fic for the pairings I like and leave the fighting to other people.

But I do have an ever-growing streak of cynicism and I acknowledge that at this point in time, it is still hard for gay pairings to be canon, and also that often canon romances are written terribly, especially in TV and movies.
