As a Digimon fan who is really excited for Pokemon Go, I probably wouldn't be as excited for "Digimon Go." Digimon's explorations in the app gaming genre haven't been the best.

Let's be real, they were never going to retcon 02. I've never really understood the fandom's hatred of that series, but that's another discussion.

Well Pokemon has a relatively simple and consistent formula. Sure there are some things like stones and trading and mega evolutions but it all stays pretty much the same.

Digimon is banana-pants on head crazy. Different digital worlds, each mon can become several different ones, the rules change between series and games, sometimes they de-digivolve and sometimes they don't.

Pokemon's a nice long straightaway of profit. Digimon zigs and zags all over the place.

FYI one of the old Digivices used to have a feature where if you scanned bar codes for shit you could pick up new Digimon that way! I remember going around some bookstore with a friend and just scanning alllllll the books to see what kinds of Digimon we could capture. Definitely not the same, but it was fun and those Digivices should still be available on ebay or something (pretty sure it was the Frontier ones???).

It was the Frontier ones, yes. However, good luck finding one for a decent price. Digimon electronics (digivices, VPets, etc.) are expensive as hell on eBay. If they're cheap, there's a risk that they're bootleg or broken somehow.
