What trends do you like? Which ones do you hate?

I kind of like the 90s return thing. I'm old enough to remember the 90s, but only as a child, so sometimes it's like seeing things I vaguely remember from my childhood. I never wore that stuff because I was too young and probably too poor anyway (my mom got all my clothes secondhand).

I'm not a big fan of high-waisted things, though. I'm overweight so, depending on the fabric, they would roll up and slide down, or cut into my stomach. I don't mind them on other people though.

Strongly dislike the giant full beards. Especially when people get all pretentious with "homemade organic beard oil" (beard oil? My dad has a beard and I've never heard of this) or start with a bunch of sexist/homophobic "Real Man" stuff.

I like the look of the colored/pastel/grayish hair.

I'm glad septum piercings have gotten less popular. They reminded me of bulls.

I wish the trend of wearing pants that fit, sometimes even with a belt, but putting the waistband and belt under/halfway down the butt would go away!

Beard oil is just like leave-in conditioner for beards, and is no more pretentious than any number of conditioning/mousse type products women use in their hair.

Well, the advertising for it certainly comes off as pretentious and very much aimed at hipsters who are trying to be Manly.

And my dad and grandfather had beards and never did anything weird with them...

Contrast them with the advertising for shampoo/conditioners/hair care products for women, though. The manufacturers are trying to convince women that using their product is like bathing in a tropical waterfall while having an orgasm, lol.

Not to sound harsh, but so what? Your dad and grandfather probably didn't have tiny, powerful computers that could fit in their pockets, either. Times change and so does technology. Beard oil isn't even a new product, really. It was certainly around in your grandfather's time, just not widely used... and it's not widely used now, either.

I like the comfy 90s clothes. I do not like seeing them labelled as "vintage" because excuse me I had that shirt and I am not vintage.

I think really tight pants are kind of hilarious. Especially on muscular guys. They look a bit like ballet tights. I don't know why but I find it extra funny when they obviously struggle to bend their knees.

I think capes are sort of cute but also impractical. Do you just have to keep your arms down all the time? I can't tell if the ones with arm holes make more or less sense. They're just a weird item of clothing.

I am going to appreciate the shit out of the t-shirt dress this summer. I don't care if it looks like a nightie.

You think that's bad? Recently the "oldies" station changed its lineup...and I now recognize/know the words to every single "oldie" or "classic hit" that they play, because I heard them all in first rotation. WOE IS ME I SAY WOE.

OMG I was going through boxes of old stuff earlier and found my old Lisa Frank diaries and pocket planners. I had to go show off to my household because one of them had Tamora Pierce's old phone number there. (I met her on her Sheroes website years and years ago, and since I was coming from TX to MA for the convention specifically to see her, we were going to meet for dinner and she gave me her phone number in case we somehow missed each other.)

I like the man-bun trend. I dunno why, it just looks kind of cool. I was never a big fan of dudes with ponytails, but the man-buns get a pass from me.

I also like undercut haircuts on all genders! I actually just got one today and I love how it turned out.

I'm unimpressed with the return to 90s thing. Like yeah sure I've got some nostalgia and all but I don't want to re-live it, I want to enjoy and discover the new things. :/


I like the selfie trends. It's cool seeing how people change and where they go.

Pumpkin spice is back in Starbucks and I've never tried this cause I don't like Starbucks but I'm so curious.

Thiiis. Been there, done that, so not doing it again, what's new and shiny?

Only thing I miss about the nineties was the tendency for some to get freakshow colourful and elaborate. It gave me something to look at when out and about.

I'm waiting for the early 00s to come back into style. Does anybody but me remember that year or two where peasant/bohemian/rennie style shirts, skirts, and dresses were in style? Along with flared pants? I STILL have clothing from then that hasn't fallen apart (apparently Target made their clothes to last! Even though most of those I've worn to a point I'm amazed they still almost look new) but trying to find it NOW amidst the skinny jeans and stuff is... nnnngh.

... if this HAS come back into style and I've missed it, PLEASE TELL ME. I've mostly been doing my clothes shopping on Amazon and while I can find some of it, it's mostly from brands that do a lot of gothic style clothing.

A return to the 90s? The 90s were a return to the 70s, for the most part. Except for the neon colours and the spandex, I mean. The first decade of the 2000s (how can it be gone already????) was a return to the 80s, which were bad enough the first time around.

I like the look of the colored/pastel/grayish hair.
