Re: Fandom Wank/Fanficrants

Boo, fandom wank was great in it's heyday. It's the only place where I think it's actually been ruined by social justice advocates. FW was mean, but in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way; and its way of calling out people by making fun of them is certainly better than Tumblr's way of doxxing.

Fanficrants was always hit-or-miss but around the time of theo's appointment as mod the SJWs started to take over and it became a circlejerk where the same three people ranted about the same three things. All its greatest moments happened in the past; check out the mod tags if you want to have a laugh.

Ditto to everything you said. I loved FandomWank back in the day, and FFRants to a lesser degree. But FandomWank slowly died, and FFRants got so toxic I went away from it. But FandomWank brought us Ms Scribe, Snapewives, the Ware-Ackles, and goth bartenders (in the dark). It was a wonderful thing in its prime!

The other place I loved to frequent was MetaFandom, where you could find all sorts of interesting fandom discussions. Sadly, I think all the discussions went underground at first, into locked posts, and then vanished with the decline of LJ.
