I don't get the complaints about the art style at all. It looks like all the other twee kids shows that have been popular in the last few years to me.

Seriously, people are just stretching to be negative here, or this is the only recent cartoon they have been exposed to in years.

Who said OP thinks the other twee shows did it better? I'm not fond of any of them, myself.

I'm old enough to remember childhood cartoons before the Flash-animated and/or thick-line American cartoons (Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Lab, Danny Phantom, that style) became a thing. I never learned to like that style, the closest has been that I think MLP:FIM looks nice sometimes. I actually much prefer this newly-emerged cartoon style trend (Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, etc). Maybe because some aspects of it remind me of the 1990 Moomin anime? As a Finnish 90's kid, that was rather formative to me, as far as cartoons go.

I mean, this is highly subjective and really comes down to personal preferences, but I, for one, am glad that mainstream animation visuals seem to be going to this direction.
