Best Audience Comments

Sometimes, people talking during a movie sucks. Sometimes they have the best comments/reactions. What are some of the best things you've heard watching a movie?

My sister leaned over to me while watching Jurassic World, during the scene where Chris Pratt is working on his motorcycle and whispered, "Chris Pratt is too hot. I can't pay attention to what he is saying."

Also during the scene when Max eats a lizard in Mad Max: Fury Road, this old guy leaned over to his wife and made nomming noises.

My sister leaned over to me while watching Jurassic World, during the scene where Chris Pratt is working on his motorcycle and whispered, "Chris Pratt is too hot. I can't pay attention to what he is saying."

Same, but upon second watch, I realized that it wasn't all that important.

his old guy leaned over to his wife and made nomming noises.

It's 1 AM and this is cracking me up so much.

A bunch of us were watching Aliens last year. During the scene where Bishop gets skewered by the alien queen's tail and white android blood starts spraying everywhere a friend of mine said "OH GOD HELP I'M CUMMING EVERYWHERE."

I laughed until I was sick.

Return of the King on opening night. The SOUND CUTS OUT just as Frodo and Sam are rescued by eagles and stays out for about five minutes; the slow-mo glowy scene of Frodo waking up is SO absurd with the sound off, and the whole audience was kind of torn between awkward silence and tittering; when Gimli comes on screen a man in the audience yells "GET. In. Mah. BELLY!!" Whole theater dies.

Not a comment but a guy sat next to me during Magic Mike 2. He was with a group of girls and even joked before the movie that he had no idea what they were watching but from their smirks was already regretting it.

His reactions were absolutely priceless. At one point he slapped his hands over his eyes and said to tell him when the guys put their clothes back on. He was dying a thousand deaths next to me, caught between laughing and second hand embarrassment. He was a good sport about it after the movie but needless to say, he wouldn't have watched it if he'd known what it was about.

A very quiet "no..." softly breathed out by someone when Hans betrays Anna in frozen.

doesn't exactly count, but in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Voldemort announced that Harry was dead, the entire theater started snickering because it was so ludicrous. I was glad it wasn't just me.

Not a comment, but an audible gasp from one woman at shirtless!Thor in TDW. I snickered.

Again, not a comment, but the entire audience clapped during the Yoda x Count Dooku fight scene in Attack of the Clones. The excitement was palpable and I loved it.

And I recall some woman saying, "Good lord, no" and covering her face during one of Shelob's appearances in LOTR.

Spider-Man 3: They part where Peter hits MJ. The audience gave a collective gasp then went silent. So we all heard when a little kid said "How dare you!", which made us all laugh.

While watching "Candyman" (the original movie), there was a scene toward the end where the husband is grieving the death of his wife, and unintentionally summons her spirit by saying her name five times in the mirror. After she murders him and the husband's girlfriend discovers the body... well, when it showed the body covered in blood, some guy in the audience blurted out, "Hey, it looks like Al Bundy!"

That was probably the loudest collective laugh I'd ever heard in a theater.

Elizabethtown (which I did not like): in a funeral scene, Susan Sarandon starts doing a stand-up routine as a way of coping with her grief, telling a story about a male friend comforting her with a hug. I was already impatiently waiting for the movie to be over at this point, and then it started dragging out the build-up of her joke, of how she felt something else besides comforted... cut to the audience gasping, whispering... back to the stage, she felt something biiiig... cut to the audience again, tutting and tittering... cut to more reaction shots... cut back to Sarandon... but in the silence before she says anything else, an old woman in front of me leaned over to her companion, and in the loudest stage-whisper ever, said "SHE'S TALKING ABOUT HIS PENIS." It took a lot for me not to snort out loud at that.

Worst best thing: Inside Out (SPOILERS): After Bing-Bong disappears, hearing a 3- or 4-year-old boy two seats over quietly ask his parents, "Is he coming back?"

When I saw Inside Out, they played that lava short first. When we got to the e and the singing started again, a father about three seat down from me leaned over to his eight year old daughter and said, "If you love me, kill me now." I was the only one that heard, and I couldn't stop laughing.

I'm so angry that I don't remember them in detail, but watching Fantastic Four, the dude behind me kept making comments about the nonsense before us and I was cracking up more at him than the movie.

It was a card game movie so the entire audience was card game players. At one point a character bent the corner of a special rarity card when putting it onto the table, and at another point a character was saved from a gunshot by the bullet going through his full special rarity deck instead. Both times, the entire theater audibly gasped at the blatant card destruction.

Scream Screamer

(Anonymous) 2015-09-18 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
I saw Scream in the theater with a bunch of friends. One of them was a girl that was little jumpy. She actually screamed for real when Ghostface popped up. It was full-out loud and terrifying. Scared me as much as the movie. Really enhanced the experience.

Not during the movie itself, but I remember the first time I saw the trailer for 'The Second Best Marigold Hotel', I was in a cinema comprised of about 60% middle-aged (or older) women, 30% middle-aged (or older) men, 10% younger people. And in the moment that Richard Gere walked into shot... a great, dreamy SIGH went up; immediately followed by a full minute of uncontrollable laughter.
