It is a really cute one :)

(Anonymous) 2015-09-18 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG that looks so adorable *goes off to look these ads up*

(Anonymous) 2015-09-18 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't help but feel sad for the wake-dog that she looks at with disdain.
elaminator: (Chuck: Sarah)

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-09-18 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Same, even though I'm not sure she looks at it with disdain, the fact that she doesn't treat it as lovingly (which makes sense BECAUSE SHE'S HAVING TROUBLE SLEEPING, WTH SELF) as the sleep-dog makes me feel bad for it. I want to cuddle both of them.

Why am I feeling this way about a commercial...

She does play with and walk it during the day part of the commercial, doesn't she?

...Was there a day part of the commercial or am I misremembering it?
elaminator: (Dragon Age: Inquisition - Othain (close-)

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-09-19 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ooo, does she walk it? You're probably right, my memory is not always spot on about these things.

I think I remember her giving it a look after it tries jumping on her (during the day part) and it sitting down to nap or whatever, but I guess I forgot the walk part.

Maybe she does love both!

(This is such a fucking weird conversation. Oh, f!s.)

(Anonymous) 2015-09-19 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Today in "I never thought this would be a conversation" we discuss a sleep aid commercial with adorable animation.

Haha, there are a LOT of "I never thought this would be a conversation" moments on f!s. They are a common occurrence now, though sleep aid commercial conversations are quite unique even considering all the other weird shit we talk about.

Here's the commercial! :)

While she does give it a kind of look at one point, she seems to treat Wake pretty well! He even has a doggy bed! :D
elaminator: (Kingsman: Harry (grey suit))

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-09-20 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, the doggy bed is pretty cute! At least she isn't making him sleep on the floor...

Okay, she's a decent owner. :)

I'm glad we (me and anon) were wrong about this!

(BTW, your icon is super cute.)

Awww, thank you! ^w^

(Anonymous) 2015-09-19 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
FWIW, I also thought she showed a clear preference for sleep cat. The loved and hugged and snuggled the white cat. Come morning, she didn't seem to have as much love for the black awake cat.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-19 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually wake is clearly a dog, which makes total metaphorical sense as dogs tend to be high energy, need lots of attention pets. And as someone mentioned above, she does take him for a walk and meets up with another lady who also has a wake "dog" and they kind of play. I don't think she loves it any less, she just needs it to tone down at night, lol. Like I love both my dogs and my cats, but I really love snuggling with my kitties at night.

I'm glad to see people like it. I say this honestly. Someone should be happy about this commercial.

Because that ad creeps me out every time I see it. AND FOR SOME REASON IT'S ALWAYS ON DURING JEOPARDY. WHY. WHY MUST THEY DO THIS TO ME!?

Oh my gosh, me too! It's incredibly clever in addition to being wonderfully cute. Props to whoever at that ad agency thought that up.

I've only seen this commercial once but I really enjoyed the animation. It makes me want to hold my cat.

This is my very favorite commercial, so cute, and such great personification (animalification?) anthropomorphism? of the "sleep"y kitty, and "wake"ful doggie. Not having a cat or dog anymore, and circumstances making it unlikely I will, it makes me a little melancholy. I do want "Wake" to get some playful cuddles, too.

I saw that ad yesterday out of the corner of my eye and thought it looked like the Alien. Scared the bejezus out of me.

I'm more concerned with the medication itself. It's a new breakthrough in sleep medicine, sure, a drug intended to help with what's called third stage sleep. The white whale of the science - most drugs pretty much only affect first stage, which means they can knock you out but maybe not keep you out, nor give you restful sleep.

I was following this one when it was only known by 'suvorexant,' because it dovetailed with some research I was doing at the time. It had a hard time getting through the approval process and there's doubts it should have. The thing I kept reading as being the thing to drag it once it got into the wild? Night terrors. I don't mean the occasional nightmare, I mean the shit that kept HR Giger up.

Sure enough, I'm already seeing people complaining about this as a side effect, and in larger numbers than the manufacturer wanted to acknowledge.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-19 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fucking horrifying.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-19 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
/Side note from a random anon: It always suprises me that you can apparently acctually advertise such strong drugs on TV (or anywhere else, really). Over here we only have ads for OTCs. I think the assumption is that with stronger medicine teh influence of marketing should be as limited as possible. I went to watch this ad on YT and the list of side-effects was really horrible to me, because I'm just not used to seeing this kind of drugs adverised (I'm well aware that almost everything has long lists of potential side effects, but still...)
