I think it feels less insulting to Americans because America is so gigantic. We have so many different cultures and regions within our own country that if someone is making fun of Texas, New Yorkers don't take it as an insult and vice versa.

We perceive it as "about those guys, not us," not realizing that to the people in the other country? We all are "those guys."

Except the rest of the world seems to be under the impression that every American = the worst of Texas.

The United States is huge and there is a lot of people and a lot of diversity , how did Texas become the representative?

Texans are really loud.

Kidding. Part of it actually might be because of Dallas, which was kind of watched by a lot of people worldwide (57 countries) back in the day. Plus some (in)famous politicians are from there, the talk of secession, the fact that it's a large state (Alaska may be the largest land-wise, but the population is very low), and the absolutely batshit stories that sometime come out of it.
