I was in Urban Outfitters during a listen session for her new album, and I just felt like screaming, "THESE SONGS ALL SOUND THE SAME! THEY'RE ALL EXACTLY THE SAME!" the whole time I was there. (I mean, I didn't, I have some sense of politeness, but still.) I loved "Born to Die" (the album) and the song "High by the Beach" is pretty great, but everything else recent is so tiring.

Admittedly I know very little about her except some choice songs (almost all of which I heard from fanmixes), but I love her stuff. I doubt I've heard over ten or twelve of her songs and I do feel like most of those don't sound wildly different, but I also don't mind.

No. But I'm still allowed to have opinions and to dislike a public figure's public image. Besides, this is fandom secrets. I'm not writing a public letter demanding she smile more, I'm saying she makes my skin crawl because she looks like she's dead inside and that's not my bag.

Me, I really dislike her image. There's something incredibly grating about her... pepsi-cola let's romanticize the 50s/60s lolita thing. There's no subtlety to it, no nuance, no real subversion.
