Good for you, finding and doing what you like! As long as you're happy, have at it! That's one of the best parts of fandom.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-22 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure why not? I say go for it.

All the fun of romance, without all the bad parts and bodily fluids.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-22 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, OP I'm exactly the same.
Sex/relationships in real life? Nah. If it ever happens, it's fine. If not? Also fine. Am not missing anything and not looking.
My list of OTPs on the other hand? Loooooong. *shrugs*

I think you, me and the OP are mental triplets.

Hey, if it works for you then there's nothing to be sorry for or feel weird about. Not everyone wants or needs a romantic relationship. *shrugs* As long as you're happy, OP.

That sounds a lot like me actually. I have absolutely no interest of any kind in finding a romantic partner, but I love shipping.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-23 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
This is me too, OP. Fiction =/= real life for me, nor do I ever want it to. Bring on the ships! :D

Honestly I'm aromantic and I'm actually pretty turned off seeing romance in real life, but I absolutely adore shipping. It's the majority of my fandom output.

So yeah, it happens.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-23 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Asexual here (though maybe biromantic leanings), and yes I like shipping but no real interest in getting in a relationship myself. From what I've seen they're too much trouble!

(Anonymous) 2015-09-23 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
SA; Also I'm in my 30s, so don't think you need to get with anyone simply 'cause you're getting older.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-23 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's not uncommon. I hear a lot of ace and aro people love shipping/romance and even smutty stuff when they don't want it in real life.

What people want in fiction often doesn't intersect into RL. This is something I wish a lot of the anti-kink people in fandom would understand, as well as the people policing lesbians for writing m/m and everyone who feels like shipping or fanfic output relates to anything but what cranks someone's interest.

I digress, but this has been bothering me for a while.

Who are you Anon and why are you reading my mind?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-23 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
From what I've seen of shipping, it seems to be more about fleshing out the characters and digging into them and seeing how they feel toward other characters and what they'd be like in a relationship than it is about romanticism. I think people enjoy seeing certain dynamics, which doesn't necessarily line up with wanting a partner or wishing those dynamics applied to their own relationships.

this sounds like something i could have written, haha.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-23 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm yet another anon who has similar feelings about shipping and my lack of desire to be in a relationship.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-23 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems reasonable and a fun way to do shipping. The lack of connection with reality makes it even better.

I'm the same with sci fi. I love it, but I've also read what it's reallt like being on a space station - the sealant leaks, the pooing down a tube and the toxic shipmates. I'll take the fiction.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-25 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean, I was like this a while ago and my ships' relationships were enough to make me happy. It's the society that makes us think that you have to have someone by your side or get married soon. Live your life :)
