(Anonymous) 2015-09-25 02:29 am (UTC)(link)And then that nonsense about her in the 'cage' just made me unable to watch the show--and I was a superfan. I love Finch and Reese, and really liked how Carter brought this other perspective/voice into the show. Of course, by the time I was into Carter, she was pushed off the show : ( But even then I thought the show would regain its awesomeness eventually--only to find that Shaw is overexposed and a cliche badass [almost a female version of Reese, but very 'feelings-less/cold'] and Root is somehow on the team.
Root was SUCH a great villain. I was so disappointed the show just fell apart. I remember how excited I was about the show at the beginning, and how beautiful the characters' work on 'trust/relationships/friendships' was.
It felt so moving to see Reese and Finch share details with each other slowly, and to see Carter more and more integrated into their operation. It was like a serious look at adult friendship/bonds.
And then it all de-evolved : ( !!! I can't tell you how sad I am to think on it. There was such a sense of promise to the show early on. Even if they rushed the 'Reese trusts Finch' part in the pilot, and made Finch too 'everyman-ish' imho. I used to really dislike little details the show could have improved early on--but now I see that they are such minor, tiny things compared to how the show has changed. It's a totally different show now. I think the current/'new' audience is different than the 'old' audience imho [I wonder, I mean].
Anyway I agree 100%! : )
