I'm never going to watch it but - can anyone who does explain why it tends to be so popular in the SJ and SJW parts of Tumblr? What is it about it specifically?

Because every part of Tumblr is the SJW part, and it's a popular show.

Tranny fusion, interracial relationships, multiple fatass heroes (because fatness is healthy and normal), an emasculated fat white boy protagonist who is constantly crying and needs a group of magical women to take care of him, and a sassy black lesbian fusion rapping about how a villain doesn't like them because she's single and is just jealous that her gay "relationship is stable".

Also female looking characters who refer to each other as female and are played exclusively by females but are genderless anon cause the creators "said so"

Dude I only criticized Tumblr a few times and that was AGES ago.

Plenty of people have poked fun at tumblr since so I genuinely don't know why I'm the only one you think of.

Besides...I kinda like the show everyone's talking about anyways.

There's a very heavy dose of bitterness in AYRT's post, but if you translate from the "embittered asshole and entitled anti-social-justice warrior" language it's not 100% wrong

Despite the phrasing, this is actually a fairly accurate description. (Though I wouldn't call Steven emasculated. It's more like he has no concept of gender roles or interest in them.)

Follow-up question! (DA) Are these actual qualities of the actual show, or just what the SJW fanon has inserted/ascribed to the show? Because tbph all I'm getting here is vibes of "This is a kids' show that Tumblr is reading waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much into IMO."

to pile on, yes, a lot of people are projecting but it is somewhat progressive for an american cartoon aimed at children. but you're going to get a lot of adults and older teens projecting when it comes to children's media.

Yeeeeeeah after reading 1/3 way through that link feotakahari provided, this is my feeling as well. Why no SJW outrage over "Stevonnie" I wonder? Especially given that that storyline puts paid to the whole "LBTGHAQSTRUTDFGDRHHRTJR-friendly!!!!!!eleventyone!!!!!" rhetoric.
