Stephanie Thornton wrote 'Daughter of the Gods' about Queen Hatshepsut. She also wrote 'The Tiger Queens' about the women who were associated with Genghis Khan.

Not ancient history, but 'Some Who Knows My Name' is about a girl kidnapped from Africa and sold into slavery in America. It's a bildungsroman and very well written.

If anybody knows of any historical fiction set during the Incan Empire, I'd love to read it.
