The best part is Ben Carson is ALSO fucking crazy. Just not AS crazy. And also doesn't know a lot about stuff that isn't brain surgery.

That whole party is pretty batshit, honestly. There's varying degrees of it, but they're all so horribly outdated/backwards in their thinking in so many ways.

Yeah I gave up on them years ago.

I feel bad for Boehner. He's pretty much the only thing standing between the anarchists in his party and a free and safe America, and that can't be an easy job. I don't like his politics, but I don't necessarily dislike him on a personal level. Certainly I like him more than most conservatives do. (Had one person on Facebook say he "sabotaged" the Republican party because his slightly darker skin indicated he was secretly a Mexican... the party is fucking nuts because the people who vote for them are fucking nuts.)

He resigns in a month, and the going theory is he was tired of keeping the apes in line.

Honestly, I have a certain respect for that. If it's true that he resigned because he no longer wanted to participate in the sort of shit that produces government shutdowns, then I appreciate that. At least he's taking some sort of stand.

Holy shit, seriously?

That...is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Wow.

But yeah, I'm not wild about Boehner, either, yet you're right about him being something of a buffer against the more ridiculous end of the party. I remember someone quoting him when talking about his job not long ago and he clearly sounded like he was so done with the shit this job brought him. I don't blame him for wanting to get the hell out.

I've never identified as a Republican, and I don't intend to start now. I just have absolutely zero patience for them and their stupidity. There are individual conservatives/Republicans I know and talk to in my everyday life that I get on well with-we obviously disagree, but I can always count on a civil, mature discussion with them.

But the actual Republican Party as it stands? Nope. They all scare the crap out of me.

Boehner for all his faults was at least willing to compromise and wanted the Federal Government to able to function. He did not want to be known for two government shutdowns. Some of the others? I am not so sure.
