(Anonymous) 2015-09-30 04:18 am (UTC)(link)Funnily enough I can always tell them apart if I stumble upon one of their fics. The way male fic writers write really stands out to me. While I've seen female fic writers writing all sorts of fic (m/m, f/m, f/f, gen, ot3, etc) male fic writers almost exclusively write m/f shipping fics. Also the females are always subservient to one male and loyal to one guy. Female fic writers have their own cliches as well, but I just found it funny that every time I read a fic knowing nothing about the author and then notice these nuances then check their profile for male or female and I'm always right.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-30 11:08 am (UTC)(link)One thing I have noticed about cis male writers is that their fics tend to be relentlessly dark and porny, or else complete comedy farce. They don't do the centre ground, or light fluffy romcom fics so much.
