Better gun control. Teaching people to solve problems without violence. More access to proper care for those who are mentally ill. Better reading comprehension of what the Second Amendment actually states (or a retooling/rewording of it altogether, but good luck getting that to happen anytime soon).

Just a few suggestions to get us going.

My wish is a new amendment that codifies the majority's beliefs on gun rights so we can all stop arguing about what the Second Amendment actually means by citing this founding father's other writings vs that one's and how the sentence is structured and historical meaning of "militia". The amendment as written is clearly not serving our needs. I'm just so tired of how so much of the gun control discussion goes back to this one statement as if it's some kind of natural law that can't be changed. Even the anti-gun control people could be helped by an amendment that more clearly lays down their rights if the whole thing ended up preserving a right that is as broad as they think it is.

Completely agreed on all of this. I don't know how easy it'll be to make a new amendment that can contain all of that, but I'm certainly willing to go for it if the opportunity arises. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything that could even remotely help fix this mess.

Improve the current registration database. Eliminate the gun show loophole. More stringent background checks and tracking. Mandatory gun safety classes. Further and much stricter limitations on weapons with high rate of fire and on magazine sizes (or clip or whichever fucking term has become a shibboleth for allowing you to have an opinion on this fucking issue).

I dunno about a solution, exactly, but the idea of treating guns like cars does appeal--that is, you need to pass a licensing exam and then keep the license with the gun all the time. Registering individual guns so that the owner's/operator's license covers all the guns they own might help. Perhaps there could be a year long grace period for people who already own guns where they could get licensed and tested and their guns registered for free, especially since there's probably more than a few people out there who inherited their dad's hunting rifle that they use to put food on the table, or whatever, and would balk at paying a license fee because they're dirt poor. And ffs, figure out some way to track ammo. Someone might concievably collect guns they never intend to fire, or only shoot recreationally, but if they've got a huge stockpile of ammunition, then I'd get worried. I've heard proposals for gun insurance that works like car insurance, but I think they're a little disingenuous, because car insurance covers damage to the car, damage to other cars, and car-inflicted injury and death. If a car is used to injure or kill someone, it's a horrible accident. If a gun is used to injure or kill someone, it's doing what it's supposed to. It'd be like insuring an oven in case your food came out cooked.

I personally hate guns and wish a blanket ban was feasible, but I really, really hate the idea that calling for more regulation of gun ownership=the government is coming for our guns, oh the horror~

Educating men to better understand how they are supposed to fit into the world. This comes from men believing they are owed somthing and that they are not getting it. men need to be made to understand that they are owed nothing and that lashing out against women will not change that.

A big part of this education would be shutting down places like 4chan.

Actually, I would rather live in a society where everyone feels they are legitimately owed something - respect, healthcare, human rights, culture, identification. A society which highly values survival of the strongest/most savage without social cohesion leads to this kind of bullshit blend of male entitlement and alienation = tinder for the fire.

How would "banning" 4chan help? It's a symptom not a cause. Not that one jurisdiction can ban websites from the web, not effectively, and attempts to only increase alienation.
