Re: Morrissey and Queerbaiting

I don't think someone writing something from a POV of a person with a different sexuality than their own is queerbaiting. I don't know that much about Morrissey, but what little I've read about him he seems like a decent guy when it comes to queer issues.

Now, he could be straight, or gay and in the closet, or bisexual, but does it really matter OP? I think you could make more of a case for queerbaiting if he kept insisting the song was -definitely not- from a gay POV, but if he doesn't do that then it's not harmful.

My thoughts are that it's pretty cool that he's able to write songs that you relate to as a queer person, maybe what he, personally, was feeling when he wrote the song isn't as important as what you get out of it.
