I think there was a poll or stats done not long ago showing that the majority of Americans DO want stricter gun control.

What you need to understand is that the American people do not have control over these issues. America is an oligarchy, not a democracy. Only the people in power can make those kinds of changes. And the people in power? Get millions of dollars from the NRA and other big corporations to do whatever the corporations want.

Until politicians stop accepting money from the NRA, they cannot act against its wishes.

it's not just the NRA to be clear

the other you have to take into effect is that many gun supporters are practically single-issue voters and deeply passionate about it, whereas gun control supporters are less focused, which means their views are not as politically important
