Re: Questions? Advice?

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it - it certainly reinforces a lot of what I've heard about online dating. At the same time though, I've kind of come to the conclusion that I online dating is the only way I can avoid eternal loneliness so I think it's something I should check out. It's just difficult getting started.

Go in with low expectations and lower standards and you'll be fine. But I can't emphasise enough how you do not want to be in an online relationship (eg, a relationship where neither partner intends to meet face-to-face). Also that the playing field for boys and girls are totally different.

Make sure the users of the site are in-line with your own interests and goals. There's the basic looking for long term relationships versus looking for quick fucks, but digging deeper there's also dating sites for special interest groups.

Make sure to do some research as, once you pick one (or a couple), you're going to have to put some personal information on there to get a bite or two. Like, imagine how skeevy it would be to be matched with someone with no profile picture, no birthdate (or birthyear), etc. If all you knew about your potential partner was their interests.
