Same goes for female only spaces though. Women have the exact same ability to be elitist assholes or just plain assholes, they just usually are a lot less upfront about it. Which, personally, I find worse.

Actually, I think you just explained the difference between "intellectual" male-only spaces and, say, car forums. At least when you visit Stormfront or whatever you know what you're getting into.

Nono, women will be very upfront about it. But where men will tell you you're 'gay' or 'a virgin' or 'a nerd', women will tell you how unPC you are. Look at what women do in shipping wars now. It's all about which ship is the MOST feminist or the MOST progressive, and anything else can be twisted into 'promoting rape' or 'abuse' or 'racism'. I've seen anti-crosstagging on tumblr that was just vile.

Yeaaaah I've been in some awesome looking-out-for-each-other women-only spaces which don't devolve into elitism and backstabbing, so it happens. I've also been in some fucking shit ones too.
