Re: Problematic Opinion Thread
(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)"I'm still more emotional than before, but that feels good. I'm more patient, I'm calmer, I feel less driven than I did before I had testosterone blockers. My emotions may be stronger, but I'm more in touch with them as well."
I can already see the asshole red pillars and shitheads going:
"Hur dur…See! Women ARE more emotional than men. And they're natural child carers since they're calmer and more patient! And of COURSE women don't achieve as much as men -- they're naturally less driven! Biology!"
Seriously, STFU.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)Estrogen has an effect. Testosterone has an effect.
No, estrogen won't make everyone a sobbing baby.
No, testosterone won't make everyone a raging dudebro.
This doesn't mean they don't have effects.
That doesn't mean that all women or all men have the same levels of hormones, nor that all of them are affected the same way by them.
Do they do things? Yes, broadly speaking. Will they do the same things to every person? Not at all

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)"My experience = all experience"
Thanks for the reminder.
I wish people would stop doing that, too.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)I don't blame trans people for it. I blame the shitheads writing the article. I mean, it must suck for trans people too when someone acts like the most important thing about their experience is that it can be used to further a cis person's agenda.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-05 12:36 am (UTC)(link)Re: Problematic Opinion Thread
People believe in an overblown propensity for sex hormones to affect emotions, confirmation bias does the rest. There's no real evidence to support that personal interpretation.
Re: Problematic Opinion Thread
(Anonymous) 2015-10-05 10:27 am (UTC)(link)you sound like the idiots who say allowing for gay marriage will embolden pedophiles to seek marriage rights. gay people are not responsible for what pedophiles might do, trans people are not responsible for what sexists do either. they would be sexist with or without this "confirmation."
