I think many of the demiasexual or whatever teenagers in fact feel uncomfortable with their own sexuality because they feel undesirable and are squicked by sexist objectification and possibly slut shaming. I'm ok with them identifying as such, if it feels safer to them, but most of them will turn out to be not asexual.

for example recently homestuck featured a monologue of a character called Jake, who was shown to be sexually attracted to people before. Lots of people who claimed to be asexual cheered that he was asexual representation because he felt broken and said that he shouldn't be around people and never be in a relationship. that was shortly after he was sexually harassed by a mind-controlled friend and dumped by his bf, mind you.
that pretty much cemented my theory for me.
