I think BDSM is lame as fuck. "Let's take sex and make it this highly structured thing with rules and regulations, paraphernalia and equipment, and negotiated contracts with lists of proscribed behaviors, character roles, and procedures! Feeling like an OSHA inspector really gets me going!"

Of course, saying this online makes me a poor naive narrow-minded vanilla-sex haver who will never know true passion.

If you look at BDSM barefacedly it does seem pretty stupid. However, it's a sexual orientation that isn't really a choice for a lot of people (I first started having urges at about 5, loooong before I knew there was anyone else like me). And it does make sense if you're into it, though of course there's a LOT of individual variation.

Oh, come on. BDSM is NOT a sexual orientation. Sexual orientations are about which genders you're attracted to, not what sexual activities you like.

Well, you let me know what you think would be a better description then!

Since I knew I was kinky like nearly two decades before I knew what gender I preferred to do it with, I feel like the former is more fundamental to me than the latter, but hey, you do you.

I don't think you're familiar enough with the subject to judge that way, if all you know of BDSM is the kind with rules and regs and everybody meticulously writing and signing contracts beforehand (lol!). It's like reducing cishet sex to peen in vag and dismissing all other social, psychological, and physical nuance.

Saying this doesn't make you a narrow-minded vanilla sex-haver, but it does make you sound like you're judging something you're not fully informed about.

You do you, though.

I kinda feel like there are different levels of structure? This is all osmosis, having not experienced it myself, but I don't think you have to have a contract and structure your whole life around BDSM. you can just, like, tie your partner up and shit if that's what you feel like doing (and your partner does too obviously).

*squints* Did you get your knowledge of BDSM from 50 Shades, anon?
