I feel the same way about fic that contains descriptions like "chocolate eyes" or worse, "melting chocolate eyes". Or fics that describe breasts as "globes".

(Anonymous) 2015-10-05 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god that shit is terrible

(Anonymous) 2015-10-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
GLOBES? GLOBES? How does that even happen?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind 'chocolate eyes, because for me that is a legitimate shade of brown, but the other two? Nope. Nope, nope, nope.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-06 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that it isn't a legitimate shade of brown, it's that it's unfortunate imagery, especially combined with "melting chocolate eyes".

"Chocolate eyes" sounds way too much like these:

ANYTHING described as "chocolate," except actual chocolate, makes me rage. I hate pretty much all food-descriptors of things that are not food, but "chocolate" brings me to a level of hatred that is only approached by "caramel," and since "caramel" is much less common I think "chocolate" will forever hold the prize for Things That Make Me Angry In Written Material OC Or Fic.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-06 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
So ... no-go on describing someone's eyes as huge pools of melted caramel in a chocolate face freckled with a light dusting of cinnamon? XD

Hannibal?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-05 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
'Orbs' for me. One time I got a really insulting review so in a fit of pique I wandered over to that guy's page and read one of his fics. First paragraph: cerulean orbs. Ahahaha no dude your opinion is invalid forever.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-06 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I can't stand that, either!

Still not as bad IMO as "Occulates".

'Melting chocolate eyes' is ridiculous, but I've kind of accepted 'chocolate eyes'. It isn't a descriptor that I particularly like, but it doesn't seem to be going away either.

Globes, though?! Hahaha, NO.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-06 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know which makes me cringe more, referring to breasts as "globes" or someone's buttocks as "globes".

I can deal with "chocolate" as a description of brown eyes (though "chocolate orbs" is just...no), but I do agree that it is an overused description.
