X/1999/Tokyo Babylon - Seishirou's grandfather. We know next to nothing about the Sakurazuka family except that they're onmyouji who kill for the Japanese government (and also a tree?) so I invented this guy for Sakurazukamori!Subaru to have someone to interact with. From a minor onmyouji family who owed the Sakurazuka a debt, so they took the first extremely talented child in generations and forced him to marry into their family muko-iri-style. At 18, to a 35-year-old woman. A decent dude surrounded by killers and generally Stockholm'ed and completely unable to leave, but also responsible for the care of his psychotic daughter, then sociopathic grandson.
DMC/RE - a fancharacter spawned from a then-infamous fancharacter who was not mine. Basically, someone wrote a rape/mpreg fic (that was intended to be pure smut) involving Dante and I was like... what is that kid actually going to be like? How would other demons treat him? Would he take after Dante or would he go full "I wanna be like dad" like Vergil? ...Because I'm one of those lame people who reads alt!universe kink shit like ABO for the worldbuilding.
Re: Fancharacters
As well you should. ABO for the kink is ultra lame.

Re: Fancharacters
Maybe long ago when I was writing that Yugioh/Inuyasha crossover, I did get attached to some of the original characters there...
Re: Fancharacters
Hazel Winter- She was a girl on the journalism team for the school paper, and she and Sam sorta knew each other because they went to the same temple. When Danny Phantom's exploits started becoming more of a big thing and people were talking about them, and whether Danny was a hero or a trouble maker, Hazel started trying to investigate and find out. She sorted of filled the "nosy/curious reporter" role that was typical in superhero stories. She was part of a fic I tossed around for a while that was made to show Danny's actions from an outside perspective.
I saw a lot of people in the fandom who seemed to think that the people who didn't trust Danny were being irrational meanies. And I sort of planned the fic to show that while WE see someone who's trying to do the right thing, people who are not in the know and don't have the same context the viewers have may not exactly see it the same way.
Now I have two in the Harry Potter fandom for a world-building story
Scarlett Seymour- A Louisiana vampiress and witch who was turned back in the late 1800s. or early 1900s.
She plays up the whole southern belle act while actually being a rather sadistic killer. A lot of her killings have been pinned on men in the past, but as times are changing she's having to get smarter and more careful.
Beauford Montegomery III- A vampire from around the same time as Scarlett. He's charming, but also dangerous guy. He's probably more methodical and neat in his killings. He's a former lover of Scarlett until he believed she betrayed her and the two had a nasty breakup. They tend to compete in their killings trying to see who can top the other. They probably know each other the best and are playing a game with each other as well as the wizarding and muggle authorities. He's also known to be quite a thrill seeker, and there are reports from a few and some rumors that he actually enjoys the Cruciatus Curse.
(I've always headcanoned that Bellatrix enjoyed the Cruciatus somewhat, I don't know if that counts as proper precedent for most people. But...people can apparently overcome the Imperius so...eh
The latter I'm planning to use for a Harry Potter crime/Aurors story and put my years of watching crime shows to use.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-07 02:40 am (UTC)(link)For example, in one I'm writing now, the OC was in school (not terribly different from Hogwarts, but founded by some of the original witch pilgrims off the Mayflower)while the Battle of Hogwarts and all that jazz took place. She didn't hear much about it(until it was over). Clearly, there was already magic in these lands, how was the interaction between the tribes in the are and these newcomers? What about Muggle relations, involving different cultures that perceive magic differently? For example, the OC is a daughter of immigrants that have their own understanding of magic and a varied linage themselves; for example, magic isn't controlled by a wand but non verbally, and as a result the character learns to use the wand at school, etc.
Anyway, it'd be cool to chat about it/see how others deal with it!
Re: Fancharacters
I sort of portray the US as being somewhat more progressive than England in terms of awareness of muggle/wizards relationships. The problems aren't gone but there's more understanding that the things are actually problems.
Although from state to state attitudes do differ. In some states, you're more likely to face blood elitism while in others its very rare. There's more awareness that puureblood eltism is bad and why. American society likes to think/claim they're past it in the same way that people like to say that america has become a post racist society but it's really not. At some point in history, the wizard government stopped keeping as much tabs one who was what blood to show that it didn't (or shouldn't)matter.
But they still do keep tabs on children being raised in muggle homes for the sake of their safety.
I believe that there is some cooperation between wizard and muggle governments and stuff like the police are aware of the Aurors.
Lots of countries have their own magical traditions handed down. In the past and throughout history their have been laws and regulations one foreign magical practices meant to deal with dark wizardry but often abused for racism.
In modern times , in law enforcement magic is judged based how it's used, while there are some things that are taboo , like the Unforgivables.
Also some people use instead of normal wands items with a wand wood and core. Some pay big bucks for the wand wood and core to be embedded or made into something, like a walking stick or knife handle.
There's still a lot of prejudice toward known vampires and werewolves in a lot of places.
There are a handful of schools I've come up with, and there are a lot of communities in all the states where wizards can get together. Many of these communities pretend to be religious communities when it comes to muggles.
Those are some things I've come up with. What you've come up with sounds really cool!
Re: Fancharacters
So this is my dishonored OC, I’ve idly mentioned her a few times. Actual clothes are pending Dishonored 2 (fingers crossed this is real and so is the location) - but so far it’s big, warm bulky clothes similar to Samuel’s only lined with fur and a fur lined hood attached - the idea behind her is that she’s a wandering solo-witch who carves bone charms from whale bones and ice seal tusks to sell to people. I imagine the sales would range from bone charms similar to the ones in Dunwall, to simple good luck/safe keeping/good hunting/fertility and of course corrupted bone charms and curses for those who have vengeance in their mind. On the side she sells hide, blubber, meat, all the offcutts from the seals/whales she does not use.
She doesn’t speak much, but she’s got a good, quiet sense of humour - she may appear a bit standoffish for her lack of words but she’s in good humour most of the time. She is confident, sure and a survivor (she has to be, travelling the Tyvian tundra and killing/scavanging whales and seals) She doesn’t see people much but she’s not particularly anti-social, she just chooses to have her own quiet life with minimal people interaction.
She does appreciate a good conversation and doesn’t particularly care where people come from. She appreciates a good cigar as a luxery item. Oh also she’s a bit nearsighted on account of damage from semi-snow blindness because glass is expensive so no protective headgear for her :( While sledding she squints her eyes or outright closes them and trusts her wolfhound to get them to the location safely (because she does hunting circuits of seals and the odd rabbit/rat thing)
Picture explanation - her nose is broken from a sleighing accident she Won’t Talk About for embarassment. Her hair is cute short and ragged - she pretty much as perpetual hood hair because travelling the wastes she wants to remain covered. Windchapped lips and bandaged extremeties are all to protect herself. She has thick eyebrows, high cheekbones, a strong jaw and is of mixed descent. (Tyvian/Serkonas because travelling traders and the fugue feast)
She has a one-dog sleigh and a Tyvian wolfhound named Dog. His harness is furside in to prevent chafing. I imagine Tyvian’s may have breeding practices similar to the Overseers but the wolfhounds are gathered as pups from wild/feral packs that roam the tundras (as mentioned in an ingame book about prisons) and raise them by hand to make them people loyal, teach basic commands and sell off the useful ones, put down the useless ones or release them back to the wild - if they survive it is breeding stock, if they die it is preventing bad blood). Boxes of canned food are on the bottom of her sleigh incase they get snowed in somewhere, top part is the bones, blubber, meat, hide, anything she can sell plus lots of spare cloth to keep warm, tools, picks and the like.
I’m sure her travels could bring her to Dunwall, near where the commercial whaling ships dock for trading, dispensing her wares to the common folk before heading off again. Maybe bunking down permanently for a season if winter is going to be particularly harsh.

Lossanárë, Elenlossë and Elennárë were three bodiless spirits born to the Two Trees of Valinor, Telperion and Laurelin (both of whom also had intelligent souls). In a meeting that details of which died with Fëanor, he somehow ended up taking them with him after seeking some of the Light of the Two Trees and ended up encasing the three in indestructible crystal shells. They were raised by Fëanor and Nerdanel as their daughters. The Oath of Fëanor was more a vow to rescue daughters/sisters than just reclaiming sparkly gems, but a lot of people did not know the Silmarils had souls.
Elenlossë is the quiet, peaceful, shy, timid sister, who prefers things like quiet handicrafts, music, general being a support to her family and friends.
Elennárë is the bubbly, playful, emotional sister of three. Quick to temper, quick to let something slide, and very protective of family. She is also the one who becomes Kizár in the Third Age, after meeting Kíli and they adopt each other as siblings.
Lossanárë is the thinker and leader of the three. Once she has thought something through, she will do her damnedest to make it happen. She is also perhaps the strongest one of all three, more stable emotions than Elennárë and not as shy and timid as Elenlossë. Lossanárë is the silmaril removed from Angband by Beren and Lúthien.
Of course, their personalities get a bit of a stir-up in the timeline that has a major Dragon Age crossover.
Lossanárë was the first to take a body (the method she used was based on a thought she had once, back in Valinor). She became Andraste. She also soulbonded with Maferath, after he found the village of Haven, years after his betrayal. Having his support in Doriath made her resist Thingol persuading her to turn against her brothers. When brought before the Valar, she wished to be reunited with her sisters, which eventually resulted in her being sent back to Middle Earth with Eärendil's aid, but she ended up being thrown from his ship and crashing into an actively erupting Erebor. She became the Arkenstone before being found by her sister in the Third Age.
Because of a deal Elenaria (Elennárë) arranged with Anora, Lossanárë and Elenlossë took bodies and Anora and Alistair's twin daughters, Alana and Alissa. However Alana, the elder, was Elenlossë, so Elenlossë had to learn how to cope with being in public. Getting control of her shyness gave her a strength that served her later when she argued with Maglor about throwing her in the sea. She was gifted a permanent Elven form by Ulmo, married Maglor and had two children and later grandchildren. She is the Lady of Himring and unofficial queen to her people.
Elennárë was probably the most damaged by Thedas. She was found early on by an elvhen slavegirl and passed from mother to daughter in her family line, the Suranas. When she chose to take a body, after her latest Bearer had repeated miscarriages, she became Elenaria Surana, mage, Grey Warden and Hero of Ferelden. As she was always the one to feel strongly, the various injustices she saw (and could not prevent) hurt her, and once her dwarven friend Kélan was gone she no longer had the main support that kept her from falling into depression. After she returned to Arda she started to ignore and eventually suppress her memories of Thedas.
Elennárë is now Kíli's sister Kizár, after having met him when he was a child. She had to stop suppressing her memories as they came in very handy fighting Smaug, but she may still have remnants of the pain she felt in Thedas lurking.
***
Besides those three I have a few minor side characters in Dragon Age, tangentially linked to Elenaria Surana. Emilia Amell was a young human mage who Elenaria was friends with. She died during the Broken Circle events. Elenaria later found out she two siblings and met her older brother, Daylen, years later and recruited him in the Grey Wardens. There is such characters like Ethiliel Surana, Elennárë's last Bearer and Elenaria's mother, Aralissë, Elenaria's younger sister who she finagled a job as a nanny/handmaiden to the Twin Princesses. Melendiel Surana was Ethiliel's older sister who resented that Elennárë chose Ethiliel as her Bearer, became a Friend of Red Jenny and was responsible for the Painted Box side-quest, which was an attempt to get Elennárë back, not realising Elenaria is actually Elennárë possessing a body.
