This may be shallow but this is why I noped the Hobbit films out of hand. Not only is it basically all Tolkien fanfiction from Peter Jackson, but Elijah Wood is WAY too damn old to play movie!Frodo. I don't care if he's wearing a good wig, he doesn't have soft young features anymore. Dude is 34 and looks it. Not that that's a bad thing! But having continuity with Fellowship of the Ring is a Thing and I fuss over it.

I don't blame you for feeling the way you do, OP.

Wood is in the first movie for, like, five seconds. He looks fine in it and anyway 99.9% of the multi-hour trilogy is devoted to cgi wargs and improbable elf fights.

1) He looks a little skinnier in the face, not necessarily older as in wrinkly.
2) Frodo is barely in the movies at all.

I'd say the most egregious example of aging in the LotR returnees in The Hobbit is Legolas, and going with what others have said about how little Elijah Woods appears, Legolas has a lot bigger role in the latter movies.

Orlando Bloom is also showing his age, his face is a lot more square than it was back in LotR, and any CGI touch-ups they gave him to hide that were not enough to totally hide it.

The CGI touch ups made him look like he'd been using a lot of Botox or was made of plastic. :/
