Old TV shows you rewatched?

[personal profile] philstar22 2015-10-08 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Are there any old tv shows you've rewatched recently or are rewatching now?

For some reason, I've started rewatching Judging Amy. The show is much more fun now that I understand the legal stuff.

I rewatched Scrubs recently until I got mad at it. Now I am watching X-Files except not because I can't find the damn movie!

Why did you get mad at it?

Annual check: am I still in love with MacGyver?

*watches a season*

Annual affirmation: yes, I am still in love with MacGyver.

As someone in love with MacGyver, what can I get my boss for Christmas related to MacGyver that is not a shirt. He is also German if that makes a difference.

I've been watching TeenNicks '80s/'90s show block they've been expanding on this past week. "You Can't Do That on Television" and "Welcome Freshmen"...holy hell, the last time I saw either of those shows must've been when I was a really young kid! It was so weird seeing them again. But fun, too.

(Also, "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" still holds up pretty well, so yay.)

As for other shows, whenever "Frasier" reruns are on TV, I'll happily watch them when possible :). You know a show's humor works when, despite the fact that you know what jokes and one-liners and such are coming, you can still laugh at them every time :).

I love Frasier too, haven't watched that show in a while.

I just finished watching Lovejoy again and I sometimes watch the reruns of Frasier. Only the first seasons of Lovejoy were good on the second watch, but Frasier is still brilliant all the way through.

The Munro Show, about Scottish mountains over 3000 feet. Presented by Muriel Gray who is, to quote the friend I watched it with, mad as a badger. And dear god the early '90s clothes and graphics. Ow, my eyes.

But most of all, those mountains. And I'd climbed a surprising number of them.

I'm on a YuYu Hakusho and Digimon Tamers binge. I watch Married With Children reruns when I'm getting ready for work because like to be happy in the morning.

Yu Yu Hakusho was so good. If it weren't so long and I didn't have so many other things to keep up with right now I'd want to rewatch it too. That was one of the first anime I was really enthusiastic about. (And Hiei/Kurama was one of my first ships.)

There's a channel we get called MeTV and my dad loves it.

Right now we've been watching Gilligan's Island, Emergency, The Andy Griffth Show and a bunch more that I can't remember right now.

Oh man, I re-watched Emergency a few years ago. It's dated, yes - kind of the baby version of today's procedurals - but it was so much better than I expected. Love Roy and Johnny, they're such a great mix of personality and the banter was hilarious at times!

MeTV is a great channel. I like that their commercial breaks are short, and that they actually show the credits of an episode instead of have some ad taking up half the screen. And they have a good variety of shows, too.

Sometimes I like to watch some of the old "Alfred Hitchcock" and "Thriller" episodes on there. I love those kinds of creepy anthology series.

I love MeTV. There's a similar one that I used to get before I had cable called Antenna TV. I don't remember which one shows Dragnet, but I am always surprised at how willing I am to watch Dragnet. Oh, that ridiculously serious show!

That 70's show is on Netflix atm so I've been binge-watching that, though I'm not going to watch it all the way 'till the end because I can't stand season 8. But I'm seeing some episodes that I haven't seen before and it's been fun even if the writing is a bit wonky a lot of the time.

I just finished re-watching all 11 seasons of M*A*S*H over the summer. I think I might be in love with Hawkeye Pierce. Is that weird?

I think that's pretty common, actually.

Started rewatching Xena.

I still love Xena and I am appreciating Gabrielle so much more now.

Of course, I'll always love the late 90s, early 2000s costuming choices of ancient civilizations lol

Been binging my way through both The Twilight Zone and Star Trek: TNG.

Twilight Zone I'm noticing is reaaaaally hit or miss-- the episodes that are great are phenomenal, but there are a lot of hokey or just plain bad ones in there too. Still, an entertaining watch! And a lot of really interesting social commentary for the time.

As far as TNG goes, I'd forgotten that the first couple of seasons had a lot of bumps in the road too, haha. But it really picks the hell up in season 3 and goes balls to the wall from there on out. Possibly unpopular opinion: sans Sub Rosa (because wtf is that episode), the Beverly-centric episodes are my absolute favorites. Remember Me is a masterpiece, and her role as acting captain in Descent pt.1/pt.2 got me giddy as hell. Love it.
