Oh man. One of the most annoying recent instances of female on male violence (for comedy) is Jane slapping Thor in Thor 2. I don't care if she can't hurt him, YOU DON'T FUCKING DO THAT.

Exactly. I really didn't like that scene. Another example that stands out to me as particularly egregious is Peggy Carter shooting at Steve without warning in TFA in what amounted to a jealous tantrum. I don't care how hurt or disappointed she was; that's not acceptable.

Oh yes! I HATED that. Not only was it dangerous to Steve it was dangerous to anyone in the same area.

Oh yeah! The shield was an untested prototype, and it (or the bullets) might have shattered, and then there would have been shrapnel everywhere. Steve and Howard might have been killed, not to mention Peggy herself. And yet, we're supposed to think she's ~so awesome~ for doing it? Hell, no! It made me like her less, and NOTP her and Steve.

It also ticks one of my least favorite tropes: Someone gets mad at somebody because of miscommunication (or in this case no communication and assuming things).

Yeah. mine, too. There was a lot that bugged me about those scenes. The misunderstanding was the kind that could have been cleared up in thirty seconds if she'd talked to him like an adult. She was also disturbingly possessive over a man she'd known only a short time and wasn't even dating at the time. All in all, those scenes made her look like a very immature person with some serious control and anger management issues. Likewise, Steve was awfully passive in that scene, and that worried me, too.

I guess it might have worked out; she might have gotten a better handle on her control issues and learned better anger management skills, and he might have been better at standing up for himself in less extreme situations. But their dynamic still made me very uncomfortable, and dislike them as a romantic pairing.

Maybe that is one of the reasons I never liked the first Captain America movie. Something just sat wrong with me when I watched it.

I loved a lot of things about the movie, but the way Steve/Peggy was portrayed and then crammed down our throats was not one of them.

Ugh I don't like that scene at all. Like her slapping Loki I don't hate as much because he did have something like that coming(though I still think it's played for laughs too much), but her slapping Thor while he's apologizing to her for not visiting sooner? Ugh, no. Bad writers.

I know! Also, realistically she should have broken her hand when doing that. I'd expect hitting Thor/Loki/Steve for a normal human would be like hitting a brick wall.

Like when Dean hit Castiel in SPN.

I think Steve might have a little more give to him(but even then it's gonna sting), but yeah, hitting Thor or Loki would be like slapping a brick-wall. They're fucking sturdy.
