Re: Porn fanworks of certain characters that should not exist

When you specify that women shouldn't be portrayed sexually rather than including both genders, that isn't feminist. That is sexist. That is exactly what culture does: judge women's sexual choices.

we're talking about a fictional character and the men who are drawing her. we're not attcking any woman, we're attacking the fanboys who disregard what the fictional character means to real women and girls.

also, op didn't say women shouldn't be portrayed sexually, she said some women characters - that is to say fictional - shouldn't because it is against their shown characterisation.

Unless it's outright stated that the character is asexual, who are you to even judge that it's out of character though?

Who gets to decide what's in character and what isn't, then? Lots of characters aren't explicitly shown to have a sex life, it doesn't mean they don't have one or wouldn't have one if the circumstances are right.

Yea, IA with this. I certainly have no problem with people not caring about sex or not seeing the connection for a specific character, but just because the characters sex life isn't discussed in the media doesn't necessarily mean they don't or wouldn't have one. If it isn't discussed then we just don't know, but there's nothing wrong with people wanting to explore it either.

Plus, men aren't the only ones who draw porn (or write smut, etc).

Exactly. A lot of the smut writers/artists I know are women. Heck, I'm one of those writers and a woman.

For example, in my fandom, there is a character that reacts quite violently (or with intense blushing) to anything sexual. But in the series finale, she's portrayed as quite happily married and a mother of three. I doubt she had those kids by asexual reproduction...

It's ridiculous to not acknowledge that plenty of women are into porny things as well; men do not own the market.

Is your fandom an anime? (There's plenty of blushing in anime!)

I doubt she had those kids by asexual reproduction...

Probably not. Of course there are other options like adoption, but those aren't explored as often; I imagine she had the kids. People and circumstances change.

For example, I totally understand not being a fan of smut of a character that is absolutely disgusted by sex (I would think that was OOC as well), but even then I'm going to let those people do their thing and just ignore it.
