Wait, weren't you getting hung up on the spelling? That's all I meant.

As for the same gender thing, I honestly don't know. There are certainly people who only ship same-sex pairings, but I'm not one of them. Maybe they have het ships but they don't write fic about those.

AYRT It seems impossible to write fiction in this day and age still and not realise that you're writing exclusively same-gender pairings. Unless OP is straight or near to and was utterly dense to the implications until long after. In which case, maybe you wanna look at why you only write same-gender pairings, why only in that way, and why they fit a trope so very similar to that which mainstream has loved so much. As it is the secret just reads like it's utterly incidental.

And I totally missed the fact that OP said the stories were their original work. Oops. Guess it amounts to the same thing, though.

When I read the secret I thought OP might only be 'teasing' same-sex pairings because that's all they write, but not necessarily all they like. (Like, if they have het pairings they like and were going to write about those pairings, they would tease those too. Then of course sometimes people adore a ship but don't feel inclined to write about it. Maybe they have a preference for writing same-sex pairings but just really love subtext rather than text. If they do indeed write het pairings as well but always make the het pairings canon I find that weird.)

But I don't know.

I don't have any pairings canon. They're all implied or teased. Basically, I have a small group of characters and there are romantic type scenes between all of them.

I'm actually aromantic. In fiction, I prefer no canon pairings because it makes shipping more fun. Also, my ships change so often I don't want to make one paring only to change my mind later.

I don't know if "write" was the right word; I make comics. I was looking through some of my old stuff and noticed that it's all same-gender pairings.

Well assuming that it's a work that's evolved somewhat as it's been developed, and it sounds like the romances aren't a huge part of it for them anyway, it could be that they did end up with only homosexual pairings. I have character pairings in my own original work that change and evolve as different drafts are done. Hell, I now have one family on my hands in one piece that the running joke is only one of the four kids is straight and he feels left out now. I certainly didn't go into the first draft planning that, but such is life.

'Realise' and 'realize' are different spellings of the same word. Both correct, one more common than the other depending where you are.

Yea, I realized (lol) that after I made my first comment. (Should've googled before commenting...)

I never see realise! Auto-correct tells me to change it to 'realize' so I thought that was the proper spelling.

The way anon emphasized 'realise' I thought they were pointing out a misspelling. My bad.

I think the S is a British spelling. All my spelling logic says "Realise" is spelt with an S, but my browser's very American dictionary disagrees with me. When I remember to do so, I just add it in.

Ooo, that makes sense! I figure spellcheck should account for where you are in the world, but I've never given it that much thought or considered it in this context. lol.

Now I'm wondering how I haven't seen 'realise' more, because I know I've read fic by British folks. Guess I overlooked it or didn't run into it enough for it to stand out.
