I'm curious to know what was fucked up about the slash relationships in question. Knowing what you've said about the het relationships, it hits one of my biggest DNW buttons - huge age gaps, especially with older men/younger women, are something I really dislike, and the bit about him helping raise her or being in any similar role just makes it reeeeally creepy. So just from what I know I'd say you've got a leg up. and I say this as someone who ships mostly het.

The first slash ship is abusive, no getting around it. In canon, one guy physically and verbally torments the other. It's just a bully getting with his victim. The second fandom, the two guys are mortal enemies and have been for years. In canon, one beat the other to death. So yeah, they're both fucked up, but the het ships in both fandoms are fucked up as well. I'm mad these few het shippers are trying to take the higher ground. I'd be mad if some of the slash shippers in the fandoms took the higher ground, but they don't.

Obviously I'm not the person you replied to

I am not a fan of ships where one person helped raise the other, which is what you are saying is the case in the het ships. But holy shit is that better than "In canon, one beat the other to death." Neither is good, obviously, but I can kinda see the het shippers' point about their ship being less abusive?

I'm not saying one is more abusive then the other. I'm saying they're both equally fucked up so people shouldn't act like their ship is better then the other because they're both horrible in their own unique ways. Sorry, I just can't stomach the raising a kid and then hooking up with them. That's so creepy to me, I just think it's the worst thing. I can't see how anyone can act high and mighty if they ship something like that. I can't see how anyone could act high and mighty over a ship where someone beats the other to death, but then these slash shippers don't do that. They acknowledge their ship is fucked up.
