I'm not familiar with this but just from this still I'm actually really liking the crude style of the people on top of that softer background.

It's a first for CN, a complete one off animated miniseries that aired last November. It's pretty good and the animation changes depending on the episode. They do a lot of homages, to things like old Betty Boop, rubber hose, Richard Scarry, etcetc. You should check it out!
