I can understand that, it took Mum and I a couple of years of piling away our advances ($1100 every six months, at the expense of losing $80+ per fortnightly pay) which in other circumstances would be used for things like large expensive devices (TV, new whitegoods) or computer repairs/upgrades, then on top of that, in the months leading up to our departure, Mum worked hard to squirrel away another couple thousand for spending money (including paying for tours we went on).

Long story short, a lot of hard saving for a pair of pensioners, and that was for a trip to a close neighbour nation. It's easy for rich people to say "You should travel!", not so easy for us plebs to actually do it.
