Go for it! I recently picked up crochet, and art's still on the list. You're not done yet!

I'm with that other anon. Your ability to write will help make your art stories better. It's not wasted, you've just done the co-requisite before the main event, that's all!

Art's still on my list after teaching myself to crochet too. Every year I think "this is going to be the year I really get into practicing drawing" and then it doesn't happen. I'll get there eventually though. And in the meantime I do get some practice in occasionally.

Crochet got jumped to the front of the list by my sister getting pregnant, but art is something I've always loved, yet always consider myself bad at. I'd like to learn a manga-ish style, because I'd like to do comic-style stories. I do little comment-fic dialogue bits, and I'd love to be able to show the image too.

*pokes at crochet slipper* I'm about 1/3 of the way through the last of the mother-daughter set, but I've managed to start another six or so projects in the meantime. I don't think this is going to be art's year.

That's a great reason to get into crocheting. I love making stuff for other people. I'm better at knitting though so I do more of that when it's something that will be given to other people. I like crochet so much better for little toys though so I do a lot of those.

I've recently been thinking that I'd like to try my hand at drawing comics because there are some story ideas I have that have strong visuals attached in my mind and it'd be cool to bring those to life. I'm not sure what kind of style I'd want to go for though. Most of my drawing practice has been in drawing people realistically from reference photos since I'm still getting used to anatomy and drawing what I see rather than what I feel like it should look like in my mind.

I never took to knitting, but both my Mom and my sister are pretty good. I was rather surprised how much I love crochet, now that I've tried it. I'm about halfway through a set of gaming dice, so I get what you mean about little toys. I like the versatility of it.

I should do that again. I started drawing people out of the yearbook when I was 11 ish, but didn't stick with it long. It's a good way to figure out people, but is a little much for what I'd like to do with it. Yeah, sometimes you just want to *see* the scene. I get that.
