... does your sister know he said that? If my hypothetical husband threatened my sister's cat, he'd be in trouble. :( I'm sorry she makes you put up with that.

Yeah, she was there. Afterwards I took her aside and ranted to her about it, but she tried to defend him by saying he would never actually do that, you know how he is, he just says what's on his mind without thinking about it and he's really defensive of the kids. I told her I don't care, he doesn't threaten my cats, and he especially doesn't do it in my house. I think she was embarrassed for him but we never talked about it again. She's not as stupid as he is, and she spends a lot of time being passively embarrassed for him, but also won't put him in his place, or, you know, leave him. Ugh.
